During June, 2010, central Fremont County, Wyoming suffered the worst flooding in 60 years, due to extreme runoff from late winter snowstorms in the Wind River mountain range.
Hundreds of homes and businesses were affected by the record floods, and the Wyoming Honor Farm, with over 100 inmates working and many staff members assisting, built over 45,000 sandbags in less than a week.
Again, in 2011, most Wyoming ranges had some of the deepest snowpacks on record, including the Wind River Range. Flooding occurred all over the state, including Saratoga, and areas in the Big Horn basin. 0ver 120,000 sandbags were built and placed with the help of WHF inmates and staff. The WHF Forestry Crew went when and where needed to help save several communities in our state.
